Choosing Interior Design Style

Designing the interior space of your home can be overwhelming. There is such a wide variety of styles that it can be challenging to narrow down the layout scheme. When it comes down to it, you must choose a style that reflects you and what you love.  

Discover what you love  

If you’ve always been drawn to bright bursts of color, acknowledge this, and make a note of it. Maybe you’re interested in the industrial composition that seems to be so trendy these days. Browse the internet or magazines to determine what style is most attractive to you. Gather inspiration from the things that stick out to you most and create some sort of visual outline. Print things from the internet or cut them from a magazine you own to organize inspiration images onto a poster board. See which style you’re most drawn to.  

Gather inspiration from your closet

Chances are that your wardrobe reflects your preferred style and color schemes. Go through your closet and notice your favorite colors, patterns, fabrics, and styles. See if you could incorporate these expressions into your interior design style.  

Let yourself have fun 

Even if choosing your design style is a lot of work, you can make it fun by imagining all the possibilities of your new space. Take an idea and run with it, but don’t be rigid with your decisions in the early stages. Feel free to change your mind and completely start over if you feel like what you started with no longer fits your ideal home. Ask opinions from family and friends. Take their ideas or leave them.  

Express your design choice with confidence 

Once you’ve made all the decisions regarding your new interior design style and construction has begun, allow yourself to feel proud of the newly styled space you’re going to call home. Allow yourself to feel at peace and get excited to share your space with your family and friends.
