Where to Stay Cool This Summer
June 11, 2021
Ah, summer. We spend the dark winters and inconsistent springs looking forward to a warm respite, but when the sunny season gets here, we can’t cool down fast enough. On a sticky, hot day, there’s probably nothing you want more than to spend your afternoon surrounded by either cool, refreshing water or a blast of air conditioning. Here are our favorite spots to check out when you’re fed up with the heat.
Brentwood Splash Park
Looking for a much-needed chlorine blast that you and your kids will love? Head down to the Brentwood Splash Park, a 10,000 square foot interactive park with multiple slides, ground and ring sprays, and a giant dump bucket! The park will be open seven days a week from June 1-August 6, and on Saturdays and Sundays from August 7-September 30.
Percy Priest Lake
Whether you’re into boating, fishing, or camping, you can find it all at this picturesque Tennessee lake. Just a 15-minute drive from downtown Nashville, Percy Priest Lake offers canoeing, kayaking, swimming, hiking, water skiing, and more!
Old Hickory Lake
Old Hickory Lake is a 22,500 acre reservoir formed by Old Hickory Lock and Dam on the Cumberland River. The lake is a popular spot for fishing, camping, and recreational boating, with plenty of full service marinas and wonderful parks surrounding it.
Opry Mills Mall
If the idea of swimming doesn’t appeal to you but you’re still looking to cool down, grab your kids and head to Opry Mills! This famous shopping mall offers over 200 stores and a wide array of dining options as well as an IMAX movie theater. The best part—the world’s only all-music themed Madame Tussads!
