How Ole South Supported its Community During the Pandemic

March 9, 2021

Since its founding in 1986, Ole South has been dedicated to providing the very best homes to families all throughout Middle Tennessee. Beyond our services building durable, long-lasting homes to members of the community, our founder and owner John Floyd strongly believes in giving back in other ways. With the creation of the John Floyd Charitable Foundation, we’ve provided substantial financial, material, and labor support to community organizations and charities, including Habitat for Humanity, Second Harvest Food Bank, and a building trades vocational program at Oakland High School in Rutherford County.

Ole South recently celebrated another significant milestone in 2021: Our company has donated ONE MILLION DOLLARS to local charities serving those impacted by the pandemic. 2020 was a record year for Ole South, as we were able to sell over 1,000 homes to Middle Tennessee residents, and we decided there was no better use for our unexpected profits than to reinvest in our community through various non-profit organizations that continue to make a vital difference in these uncertain times.

Read what the recipients of our charitable giving have to say about Ole South:

“We are overjoyed by the investment of Ole South Properties in the Boys & Girls Clubs of Rutherford County as we strive to enrich the lives of local children through our programming. Members and families can count on us to provide care, food, a safe environment, and relationships that strive to help each member become the best version of themselves, and we are able because of donors who give back. Ole South is a great community helper and makes a positive difference for many!” - Sheryl Chesnutt, Chief Executive Officer, Boys & Girls Clubs of Rutherford County

“Ole South re-connected with From the Heart Education Foundation during one of the hardest years since our beginning. An introductory meeting with John led to a most generous and needed donation that will help us continue changing the lives of kids throughout Nashville and surrounding counties. We have a diverse range of young people in our various programs with needs as simple as a ride to a game, to reading tutoring, to renting the instrument of their dreams; none of which is possible without adequate resources.  As the slogan says--Ole South Built It, but also Ole South Gets It... our youth, our future. “ - Jewell Win, Executive Director, From the Heart Education Foundation

“Every eight minutes, someone affected by a disaster is helped by donations to the Red Cross. Powered by Ole South Properties’ compassion, Red Cross volunteers and employees are there during life’s most urgent moments, helping provide essentials like food and shelter as well as comfort when disaster strikes. We appreciate Ole South Properties supporting the Heart of Tennessee Chapter so that we can continue to serve our local communities in their time of need.”

"I am so satisfied with my Ole South home that I currently own not one but two homes built by Ole South and seven of my family members also own Ole South homes all purchased within the last few years."
