April 20, 2022
Summertime is quickly approaching, and that means it’s time to start thinking about those summer vacation plans — especially summer camps for kids. While you can pack the family up for a road trip at the drop of a hat, summer camps in our area start to fill up in the spring, quickly. Here are some fun local summer camps to look into this year!
Explore nature & learn about farm life
A New Leaf Nashville | Pip & Pickles Farm - Nashville, TN
Children thrive when they have the opportunity to interact with nature and engage in outdoor play. That’s why Pip and Pickles Farm, in partnership with A New Leaf Nashville, offers several week-long summer camps focused on outdoor adventure, exploration, and play. Children aged 5 through 12 are welcome to attend as campers, while those aged 11-15 can join in a more supervisory role. Activities include art, music, games, and tending to farm animals.
Learn & discover with STEAM-based activities
Adventure Science Center - Nashville, TN
Discover more about science, technology, engineering, arts, and math with a week-long summer camp experience at Adventure Science Center. Programs are designed for kids in grades k-6; however, campers must be at least 5 years old and have completed one year of schooling. The 2022 summer camp season will feature different programming each week with themes such as Wizarding World of Science, Mad Scientist: A Limited Series, and Forensic Finds.
Build leadership & confidence for girls ages 8 to 17
Camp Juliette Low - Cloudland, GA
Families looking for a girls-only summer camp experience should check out Camp Juliette Low, located on Lookout Mountain in Georgia. The camp features one- and two-week programs that are designed to provide campers with fun and exciting ways to gain confidence and practical skills. Founded by Juliette Gordon Low, who also founded the Girl Scouts, this camp teaches teamwork and independence through arts, crafts, sports, games, and more.
Build character & make friends for boys 6 to 16
Camp Rockmont - Black Mountain, NC
Boys in eastern Tennessee, or those looking for an adventure a bit farther from home, will love the options of one- to four-week camp experiences. The summer camp schedule is divided by age groups, ensuring age-appropriate activities and the chance for boys to make friends while developing leadership and independence-based skills.
